Since 1966, we have shaped the transformation of the markets we serve through expertise in civil and industrial engineering. Our value has always been built on shared success, between our people and our clients, driven by a distinctive way of thinking and working. 

For the company’s founder, José Luis Manzanares Japón, Ayesa Engineering is the result of “bringing together minds with different backgrounds to share ideas and aspirations.” 

Over these 60 years, multidisciplinary teams have successfully delivered thousands of major projects around the world. Guided by the principles that have brought us this far, today we are a global engineering services provider with a stable presence in 16 countries.

A broad vision, reaching multiple geographies and operating across diverse sectors, has shaped the history of this firm, which, with family origins, has grown to become one of the 50 largest engineering companies worldwide.

The beginning

1966 –1980

Ayesa Engineering was founded in Seville as a small engineering company that was dedicated to employing the latest techniques from the outset. One of its earliest accomplishments was the development of a Mathematical Model of the supply network created for Madrid. Ayesa Engineering’s early years were focused on water projects, including the challenging construction of the La Pedrera reservoir, an earth dam located in one of Spain’s most seismic regions, which required exceptional technical expertise.

Our first project abroad

1980-1990

In 1984, Ayesa Engineering sought new challenges and took on its first project outside of Spain: the Santa Elena irrigation system in Ecuador. This led to the opening of its first office in Guayaquil. At the same time, Ayesa Engineering designed its first F1 circuit in Jerez.

1990-2000

Ayesa Engineering, a rising star in the engineering world, took on the Expo 92 construction project, a massive undertaking that left an indelible mark on Seville. The Cristo de la Expiración Bridge (El Cachorro), which the founder of Ayesa Engineering designed, has since become a symbol of the city. Seeing new opportunities, Ayesa Engineering shifted its focus to developing cutting-edge automation and remote control systems for infrastructure long before the proliferation of the internet, resulting in remarkable business growth. In a pivotal move, the company secured its first contract for high-speed railway systems on the Madrid-Barcelona AVE, establishing itself as the first Andalusian firm to specialize in SAP technology implementation.

2000-2010

Ayesa Engineering’s journey to global success has been characterized by two consistent elements: internalization and market growth. In 2003, Ayesa Engineering ventured into Mexico and extended its reach to numerous other countries across Europe, Latin America, and Asia. In 2006, Ayesa Engineering broadened its industrial engineering portfolio by acquiring MdE, a Catalan company specializing in chemical processes.

2010-2015

Ayesa Engineering’s involvement in large-scale international projects includes the construction of Line 2 of the Panama Metro and the Atotonilco Wastewater Treatment Plant in Mexico City, which is the world’s largest. The company expanded its portfolio by acquiring Sadiel in 2011, which added over 1,700 IT engineering professionals and a significant portfolio of public sector and utility solutions to the group.

2015-2018

Innovation has become a new driving force for Ayesa Engineering. The company is actively engaged in major European research projects to advance technologies like artificial intelligence, data science, and automation. With a significant portfolio of technological projects including big data, electric car fleet management, and network losses, Ayesa Engineering celebrates its 50th anniversary and is on a transformational journey towards innovation.

2018-2020

Over the years, Ayesa Engineering has established itself as a leading global engineering firm, expanding into key markets such as the Middle East and India. The company has delivered landmark projects, including the construction of the first high-speed railway connecting Delhi and Meerut. As a trailblazer and agent of change, Ayesa Engineering continues to diversify into emerging sectors, embracing new opportunities such as Industry 4.0.

2020-2022

Amid the challenges of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Ayesa Engineering not only expanded its workforce but also achieved record-breaking revenue. The company secured major contracts, including the $56 million supervision project for the Bogotá Metro, along with significant assignments for utilities and public administrations worldwide. In 2021, as it celebrated its 55th anniversary, Ayesa Engineering entered the prestigious ENR Top 50 ranking of the world’s largest engineering design firms, demonstrating its position as a leading global provider of engineering services.

major acquisitions

2022-2025

A&M Capital Europe’s majority investment in Ayesa Engineering paved the way for a strategic acquisition plan, strengthening the company’s presence both in Spain and internationally. As part of this expansion, Ayesa Engineering acquired the Irish engineering firm ByrneLooby, a civil engineering consultancy with offices in the UK, Ireland, and the Middle East. In 2025, Ayesa Engineering further advanced this strategy with the acquisition of ADP Consulting, a leading sustainability-focused engineering consultancy based in Melbourne, marking its entry into Australia and reinforcing its growth in English-speaking markets.

By 2025, the firm has established a direct presence in 17 countries across Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

2026

After a year of pivotal decisions shaping its future, Ayesa Engineering reached an agreement for its acquisition by Colliers, a global professional services firm listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and Nasdaq.

Ayesa Engineering brings to Colliers a highly internationalised engineering platform, with operations across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia, a portfolio of landmark projects, and a strong technical culture built over six decades. Under the agreement, Ayesa Engineering will retain its brand and lead Colliers’ engineering expansion in areas Ayesa Engineering is present. Together, the two organisations form a complementary and powerful platform, which will rank among the world’s top 30 engineering design firms.
